Yamas Greek Restaurant
Restaurant Extension & Interior Design Refurbishment in Nottingham City Centre
Spacekind delivered a full restaurant extension and interior design refurbishment for a family-run Greek restaurant in Nottingham City Centre. Having previously designed the original dining space, we were commissioned again to create a cohesive, welcoming interior for a newly acquired adjacent unit.
The new space — formerly a nail bar — was transformed into a warm, inviting dining environment that complements the existing bar and restaurant, attracting customers from daytime service through to evening dining.
Transforming an Empty Commercial Unit into a Warm, Inviting Restaurant
The brief was clear:
Create a hospitality interior that feels warm, welcoming, and aligned with the restaurant’s established brand — while seamlessly connecting the new unit to the original space. Our restaurant interior design services included:
Detailed floor plans
Concept and colour scheme boards
3D visualisations to help the client fully visualise the finished space
Spatial planning and layout strategy
Lighting design specification
By combining strategic layout planning with atmospheric lighting and material selection, we delivered a space designed to enhance customer experience and increase dwell time.
Restaurant Layout & Spatial Planning Strategy
To unify the extension, the dividing wall between the two buildings was opened up, creating a natural flow between spaces. The new design focused entirely on dining, maximising seating capacity without compromising comfort. Key interior features included:
Bespoke banquette seating with integrated LED illumination
Loose timber tables and faux suede chairs
Fabric-covered fixed seating with subtle pattern detailing
Durable timber flooring for warmth and practicality
Textured feature wallpaper contrasting painted walls
New blinds to soften large windows and control natural light
Ambient wall lighting and pendant lighting for evening atmosphere
Contemporary LED strip lighting for added depth and visual interest
Refurbishment of the Existing Restaurant
To ensure continuity between old and new areas:
Original fixed seating was reupholstered to match the updated scheme
Walls were redecorated
Lighting was upgraded for improved ambience
The result is a cohesive hospitality interior that enhances brand identity and creates a consistent dining experience throughout.
