Chapel Bar.
Hospitality Interior Design & Bar Refurbishment Project
When acquired by our client, this former hospitality unit was completely empty and in need of a full interior refurbishment and creative design transformation. Spacekind was commissioned to deliver a welcoming restaurant and bar interior that would attract customers throughout the day and into the evening.
Transforming an Empty Café into a Warm, Inviting Bar & Restaurant
The brief was to create a hospitality interior that felt warm and welcoming, spacious yet cosy, stylish with an industrial edge and suitable for both daytime dining and evening drinks.
To achieve this, we layered mixed textures and materials, including leather seating, timber features and wooden flooring, exposed brickwork, dark feature wall colours, industrial-style lighting and shelving. Foliage and carefully selected accessories were introduced to soften the industrial aesthetic and create a relaxed dining atmosphere.
Cost-Effective Bar Design & Layout Strategy
The new bar area was strategically positioned in front of the existing services to minimise additional plumbing and electrical work, reducing overall project costs while maintaining strong visual impact.
Key bar design features included solid ash countertop, slatted, paint-finished bar front, integrated LED strip lighting for dramatic ambience. This combination created a striking focal point while maintaining warmth and texture throughout the space.
Timber Slatted Wall Panels & Interior Finishes
The original café featured a black tiled wall, which we transformed using bespoke timber slatted wall cladding. This introduced natural texture and visual depth while enhancing the contemporary hospitality design.
The original sash windows were finished in white satinwood, along with the ceiling, creating contrast against the darker interior palette. This balance of dark, moody tones with fresh, light finishes ensured the space felt both intimate and open
